About WVCP
West Village Citizens for Preservation is an unincorporated community association of neighbors who live on or near the Hudson–Christopher–Barrow–Greenwich block. We formed to protect the long-term integrity of shared open space, impacts on safety, character of our neighborhood, and to ensure that any new construction on the block complies with NYC zoning law and respects the character of the West Village.
What We Are (and Aren’t)
- We are neighbors funding independent expert analysis, legal counsel, and sharing factual findings.
- We are not affiliated with any political party, developer, or institution.
- We are not pursuing conflict for its own sake—our goal is clarity and lawful stewardship.
Why We Exist
Complex zoning questions often require professional review. Our group provides a transparent way for neighbors to pool resources and commission independent experts, rather than relying solely on interpretations supplied by project teams whose job is to advance construction.
We believe the community deserves accurate information before irreversible decisions are made—especially where open space may be affected.
